Because of you, BBAF can help children succeed in the pool, the classroom & beyond!

Mila’s love of swimming was almost cut short when her intruction became a financial burden for her mom and dad, who were also paying for medical care for Mila’s two siblings, who have health conditions. BBAF subsidies made it possible for Mila to stay on her high school swim team and after school swim club. Mila hopes to study computer science in college.

Yajaira learned to swim when she was seven at her local pool and joined the water polo team when she was ten with BBAF swim scholarships. For the past three summers, Yajaira’s worked as a lifeguard at that same pool along with being a swim instructor for the last two. Yajaira is now attending UC Merced and is the first in her family to attend college. Yajaira’s life has truly been transformed!

BBAF Swim Scholarships for families at East Palo Alto YMCA  –  Thank You!

“I was so happy that we were able to offer swimming lessons, thanks to BBAF.  One of the moms shared that all of the parents are so grateful for the opportunity to have swimming lessons for their preschoolers, as well as the opportunity to be in a parent-child class with their toddlers. She said the families would not have swimming this summer without BBAF swim scholarships. Thank you so much for making the water accessible to our community youth and families.” – Loree, BBAF Partner, EPA YMCA

“We’ve had such a great summer at the pool!”
